Safety Center and Alvarez Associates have partnered to offer a 3-day course focusing on Prevention, Management and Response/Recovery to give participants straightforward strategies and concepts to establish their own workplace violence prevention program.

Students completing all three days are eligible to take the Certified Workplace Violence Specialist exam and earn the CWVS designation.

DAY 1 – Establishing a Successful Violence Prevention Program

Learn methodology, strategies & principles for establishing a successful violence prevention program in the workplace.

  • Dynamics of violence in the workplace
  • Principles of security
  • Creating a workplace that is unattractive to criminals
  • Elements of an effective WPV policy & strategies for getting senior management support

DAY 2 – Managing the Threat of Violence

Learn how to leverage the diverse disciplines within your organization to more effectively manage threatening behavior.

  • Strategies for establishing an effective monitoring and reporting system
  • Setting up a behavioral threat assessment team
  • Concepts and strategies for handling difficult, disruptive & dangerous individuals
  • Strategies for working with outside resources

DAY 3 – Responding to and Recovering from an Incident of Workplace Violence

Learn specific strategies to respond to violence in the workplace.

  • Strategies for responding to active violence including M.O.V.E. program
  • What to expect if an incident of violence has occurred
  • How to incorporate response strategies into existing emergency management programs
