SAFETY CENTER INCORPORATED PRIVACY POLICY – COMMITMENT TO YOUR PRIVACY

This site is operated by Safety Center Incorporated. We want to make your experience online satisfying and safe.

Because we gather certain types of information about our users, we feel you should fully understand our policy and the terms and conditions surrounding the capture and use of that information. This privacy statement discloses what information we gather and how we use it.

This policy covers information we collect through this website, and information we hold about people who use our services, including contact details an employer gives us when arranging training, records of the training someone completed, and the accounts we create for the Workplace Safety Portal.

What information do we collect?
We collect information you give us directly: when you fill out a form, request training, register for a class, respond to a survey, make a donation, or ask to hear from us. When an organization arranges training with us, that organization gives us the names and contact details of the people attending.

We also collect limited technical information automatically when you use the site, such as the pages you visit and the browser you use.

What do we use your information for?
Any of the information we collect from you may be used in one of the following ways:

To improve our website.
We continually strive to improve our website offerings based on the information and feedback we receive from you.

To improve customer service.
Your information helps us to more effectively respond to your customer service requests and support needs.

To deliver the services. When you or your employer asked for; scheduling training, issuing certificates, and keeping the records that demonstrate regulatory compliance.

To provide access to the Workplace Safety Portal, where organizations we train can see their sessions, certificates and records.

To process transactions. Your information, whether public or private, will not be sold, exchanged, transferred, or given to any other company for any reason whatsoever, without your consent, other than for the express purpose of delivering the purchased product or service requested.

To send you email, as described in the next section.

What email does Safety Center send?
Safety Center runs several programs and divisions, and we email you for two reasons: because you or your organization asked us to do something, or because you asked to hear from us. Different programs send from different addresses and through different email services.

Whatever the program, these hold true:

  • We do not buy or rent mailing lists.
  • We do not sell, rent, trade or share your email address.
  • Anything you subscribed to includes a way to unsubscribe, and we honor it.

Email about your account or your training. If your organization works with our Workplace Safety division, we may set you up with access to the Workplace Safety Portal. When an account is created we email an invitation, and we email a reset link when one is requested. These come from workplacesafety@safetycenter.org. They go to one person at a time and always follow something you or your organization asked for. There is no unsubscribe from them while the account exists, because they are how the account works. Ask us to close the account instead.

Email you asked to receive. You may choose to receive industry and regulatory safety news, or announcements of symposiums and forums, from our Workplace Safety division. These go only to people who selected that specific topic and then confirmed it by opening a link we emailed to that address. Until that link is opened, we send nothing. We record the date you confirmed and the exact wording of what you agreed to, so a topic cannot later be changed into something you did not choose. Choosing one topic never adds you to another, and there is no general newsletter. Every one of these messages carries a one-click unsubscribe that needs no account and takes effect immediately.

Our other programs, including community safety, teen and driver programs, and Safetyville USA, send their own announcements and newsletters from other Safety Center addresses, using a separate email service. Those messages carry their own unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing from one program does not affect another.

You can reply to any message we send; those mailboxes are read by a person.

How do we protect your information?

We implement a variety of security measures to maintain the safety of your personal information when you enter, submit, or access your personal information.

Do we use cookies?
Yes. We use cookies and similar technologies to keep the site working, to understand how the site is used, and if you use the Workplace Safety Portal to keep you signed in. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; some parts of the site may not work correctly if you do.

Do we disclose any information to outside parties?
We do not sell, trade, or otherwise transfer to outside parties your personally identifiable information. This does not include trusted third parties who assist us in operating our website, conducting our business, or servicing you, so long as those parties agree to keep this information confidential. We may also release your information when we believe release is appropriate to comply with the law, enforce our site policies, or protect ours or others rights, property, or safety. However, non-personally identifiable visitor information may be provided to other parties for marketing, advertising, or other uses.
