OSHA 500 Trainer Course Construction Industry

Available in Spanish and English!

This course is designed for those who are interested in teaching the 10-hour and 30-hour construction safety and health outreach classes to employees and other interested groups. Special emphasis is placed on those topics that are required in the 10-hour and 30-hour classes as well as on those that are the most hazardous in the construction industry, using OSHA standards as a guide. Course participants learn effective instructional approaches and the successful use of visual aids and handouts. This course authorizes the student to become a trainer in the Outreach Program and to conduct both 10-hour and 30-hour construction safety and health courses, and to issue cards to participants verifying course completion.

Prerequisites: Course #510 and 5 years of construction safety experience. A college degree in occupational safety and health, a Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) designation, or an OTC Certified Safety and Health Official (Level III) designation may be substituted for 2 years of experience. Participants must submit a Prerequisite Eligibility form and requested documentation prior to the start of class.

NOTE: Prior training experience is recommended before taking this class. Students in Course #500 must prepare a one-hour presentation on an assigned OSHA Construction Outreach topic individually or as part of a group, and successfully pass a written exam at the end of the course to become an authorized Outreach Trainer. Construction Outreach Trainers are required to attend Course #502 or retake #500 at least once every 4 years to maintain their authorized trainer status.

OSHA 501 Trainer Course General Industry

Prepares participants for teaching the 10-hour and 30-hour General Industry Safety and Health Outreach classes for employees and other interested groups.   This class requires a thorough knowledge of OSHA General Industry Standards (CFR 1910) . Participants will learn to develop and deliver training with visual aids and handouts that use effective adult instructional approaches. Upon successful course completion, students become authorized OSHA Trainers in the 10 and 30 Hour Outreach Program  and they can issue cards to participants verifying course completion.s. A laptop is recommended.

Prerequisites: OSHA #511 Course + 5 years of General Industry safety experience.  A college degree in occupational safety and health – a Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), or a Certified Safety & Health Manager (CHSM), Occupational Safety and Health Technologist (OSHT) or OTC Certified Safety and Health Official (Level III) designations may be substituted for 2 years of experience. OSHA 521 Industrial Hygiene

According to the Archives of Internal Medicine (AIM), more than 60,300 fatalities result fromoccupational illnesses annually. Minimize the threat of illnesses by learning industrial hygiene practices and related OSHA regulations and procedures. OSHA 5119 – Cal/OSHA Standards for General Industry

Developed in partnership with Cal/OSHA, this new 4-day course emphasizes Title 8 General Industry standards and compliance. Topics include IIPP, Ergo, Electrical and many others.
