The Certified Safety Management Specialist (CSMS) program is the key to transforming your organization’s safety culture. Learning and applying strategies effectively will increase the impact of your safety initiatives. Expert guest speakers and CSMS graduates share powerful insights into achieving exceptional safety performance. 

The Certified Safety Management Specialist (CSMS) is a designation awarded to those who have successfully completed: 

  • Nine-day Safety Management Specialist Program 
  • Competency-based Assignment and Final Exam 

Individuals who achieve the CSMS designation receive a certificate and are authorized to use the CSMS credential after their name on business cards, letters, reports, etc. 

Certified Safety Management Specialist (CSMS) Designation demonstrates a high level of competence and credibility. 

This program is offered as part of our Virtual Instructor-Led Training (VILT). 

This means that you can attend this course, led by a real instructor, from anywhere you have internet access. 

Our courses have been designed to allow for maximum engagement. Participants engage with instructors throughout the course and learn from the experiences of other participants. The same great training you have come to expect, now on a virtual platform.

This course includes classroom instruction, equipment training, and various entry scenarios. At the end of this course, participants will be qualified to act as an attendant, entrant, and entry supervisor. Participants will also fulfill all three positional requirements. Topics include: How to identify confined spaces, determining which confined spaces are permit-required spaces, how to utilize a permit system, and how to use gas detection equipment and proper ventilation techniques. Safety Center’s Confined Space training yard was built specifically to meet all industry needs including utility vault entry, manhole entry, vat entry and grain industry storage entry.

Trick or Treat Safetyville offers a fun and safe trick or treating experience for kids of all ages. Take a walk down the spooky streets of the little city and see what surprises lurk behind each door. Visit the trick-or-treat stations hosted by our community partners to enjoy fun activities related to safety and health and to fill up your bag with treats and prizes. Enjoy engaging performances on the Capitol main stage.

Trick or Treat Safetyville helps raise funds to support the children’s safety and health education program at Safetyville.

OSHA 2055 – Cranes in Construction

This 3-day course covers the best practices in crane and derrick operation using the OSHA Cranes and Derricks in Construction Rule as a guide. Course topics include hazards associated with crane assembly and disassembly, types of cranes, lifting concepts, rigging and wire rope, signaling, employee qualifications and training, and maintenance, repair, and inspection requirements. Students will participate in workshops to reinforce concepts of safe crane operation.

Safety Center offers OSHA compliance training as a host site organization for Chabot-Las Positas’s Community College OSHA Training Institute Education Center at our Northern California campus in Sacramento.

This HAZWOPER 8-hour training provides a refresher for the general overview of the basics of hazardous waste operations. Training covers Federal and California applicable laws and regulation, waste identification, container and tank management, incidents command systems, toxicology, bloodborne pathogens, and much more. This program is created to address the general hazards that can be expected at a worksite to best protect attendees.

This course emphasizes Title 8 general industry standards and compliance.  The Cal/OSHA 30-hour General Industry Outreach Training was specifically devised for safety directors, forepersons, and field supervisors; the program provides complete information on Cal/OSHA compliance issues.  Topics include: injury and illness prevention program (IIPP), multi-employer and dual employer, machinery and machine guarding, hazardous materials, confined space, industrial hygiene, lock out/tag out, ergonomics, electrical safety, heat illness prevention and many other safety topics.  Upon successful completion of the course, participants will receive a Cal/OSHA 30-hour General Industry Outreach card.
