Join us on Thursday, May 2, where David Hornung, Senior Safety Engineer for Cal/OSHA, will be discussing California’s Heat Illness Prevention Regulation. Starting as an emergency regulation in 2005, California was the first state to adopt a Heat Illness Prevention Regulation to protect outdoor workers. David will cover the history of the regulation, its requirements, and the Court of Appeal’s August 2018 decision covering AC Transit bus operators.

David Hornung
David started work for Cal/OSHA in 2009 as a compliance officer in Oakland. He spent his first summers with Cal/OSHA performing heat inspections. He is currently the Heat and Agriculture Program Coordinator. David received a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering in 2002 and a Masters in Public Health in 2007 from UC Berkeley. David is a Certified Industrial Hygienist.
