This 8-hour course will provide participants with an awareness and introduction of the principles and concepts required to establish a workplace violence prevention program. Participants will learn specific strategies to incorporate into their daily professional lives to improve the overall security and safety of their organization. The primary goals of this course is to give participants a greater ability to recognize the warning signs of potential violence, guidelines for managing threats and specific actions to take should violence occur.
Course curriculum includes:
- Review of the types and impact of workplace violence
- Concepts of personal safety
- Strategies for evaluating and improving the security of the workplace
- Review the key elements of developing a workplace violence prevention policy
- Learn how to recognize the warning sign of potential workplace violence
- Strategies for getting employees to bring concerns forward
- Concepts to better evaluate and manage threats once they have been identified
- A simple strategy for responding to incidents of active violence (M.O.V.E.)
- Strategies for getting your organization to support violence prevention efforts
